The Bower Bird is one of the most amazing creatures. During mating season, the male Bower Bird makes a Bower out of twigs and sticks and then decorates the Bower with blue objects such as pegs and ribbons. The more attractive the Bower the more likely he will be able to attract a mate.

However, the female of the species can be very fussy. If she does not like the Bower she will actually destroy it and the male will have to then rebuild a better one from scratch. He may have to keep trying numerous times before he will successfully attract a female to mate with.

Fortunately, nature has given the male bower bird the persistency and creativity required for him to continue trying regardless of the results.

The male of the species has shiny blue-black plumage throughout, whereas the female has green to olive feathers on the upper side of the body and white-green patches on the underbelly.

These birds are common in the Blue Mountains of Australia and they mainly inhabit the edges of the forests.
